Samantha, yes absolutely! We don’t ever recommend “starve yourself” detoxes. There is a much healthier way to achieve great results than depriving your body of nutrients for a few days. I would recommend sticking to lighter foods though. You can detox from specific things such as sugar and carbs or you can try a smoothie/juice detox. Just try to fill up on salads and veggies rather than heavier stuff like meats during a detox. I hope that helps!

Most of the bacteria that dwell in your gut are pretty useful. They produce hormones, regulate your immune system, digest food, extract nutrients, control your mood, manage your appetite, and much more besides. That obese people tend to have higher numbers of Firmicutes bacteria is no coincidence – according to research published in the online journal Nature, these bacteria increase the number of calories your body absorbs from food.

This detox water not only keeps you hydrated but it helps you to enjoy beautiful skin. It’s chocked full of vitamins and anti-inflammatory ingredients and it looks beautiful in the glass, too. You will need about a cup of strawberries, 2 cups of cubed watermelon, a couple of sprigs of fresh rosemary, filtered water and just a dash of course salt. Just muddle the strawberries and rosemary together in a bowl and then add them with the cubed watermelon to your pitcher. Pour filtered water over it, give it just a light stir and then refrigerate for a couple of hours.

Another common problem for women experiencing the post-pregnancy belly bulge is that pregnancy acts to stimulate fat-storing hormones. To counter this, experts recommend taking fish oil supplements. To be specific, anywhere from three to five 1,000mg capsules per day—which help to activate fat-burning hormones, and de-activate fat-storing ones. A diet that is rich in nuts, oils and olives also helps to burn fat.
Okay, so you won’t be dining at Waffle House this week. To make the cleanse work for you, you’ll need to make your own dinners for the next seven days, or special order off the menu of your favorite restaurant. Cleanse Dinners consist of protein and vegetables, and healthy fats, but no grains or fruits. A little harsh, but again, it’s only temporary. Metabolism decreases up to 35% during sleep, so any extra carbs in your system at bedtime are more likely to get stored as fat. Grains and fruit are the main carb sources in our diets, so I’m stripping them out at dinnertime for the next seven days.
Every tea has its own special weight-loss powers, but if your boat is sinking and you can only grab one package of tea before swimming to the deserted island, make it green tea. Green tea—a core component of The 7-Day Flat-Belly Tea Cleanse—is the bandit that picks the lock on your fat cells and drains them away, even when we're not making the smartest dietary choices. Chinese researchers found that green tea significantly lowers triglyceride concentrations (potentially dangerous fat found in the blood) and belly fat in subjects who eat fatty diets.

4. Hormonal Belly: According to Rachel Attard, a certified personal trainer and nutritionist, a hormonal imbalance can contribute to weight gain. She explains how estrogen and progesterone can cause weight gain. The first point she makes is that high estrogen levels can increase insulin, which can lead to sugar cravings. This is why you see many women eat chocolate during PMS. Another point she makes is that high levels of estrogen have the ability to cause more fatty tissue growth. In most cases, she states that the excess fat is usually around the stomach area because estrogen also dictates where the body will distribute fat.
You probably already know that chamomile tea can help induce sleep (there's even a brand called Sleepy Time). But science is showing that teas actually work on a hormonal level to lower our agita and bring peace and slumber. Studies have found that herbal teas like valerian and hops contain compounds that can actually reduce levels of stress hormones in our bodies, bringing on sleep — and reducing the body's ability to store fat!

The stress hormone cortisol can really screw with your belly. The problem with cortisol is two-fold: First, the chemical makeup of cortisol causes the body to store visceral fat. Visceral fat is stored between your main organs and in the midsection and is the most dangerous type of fat. Experts state that visceral fat increases the risk of diabetes and heart disease.
