Before a workout, turbocharge the fat-blasting effects by sipping a cup of green tea. In a recent 12-week study, participants who combined a daily habit of 4-5 cups of green tea each day with a 25-minute sweat session lost an average of two more pounds than the non tea-drinking exercisers. Thank the compounds in green tea called catechins, belly-fat crusaders that blast adipose tissue by triggering the release of fat from fat cells (particularly in the belly), and then speeding up the liver’s capacity for turning that fat into energy.
Why the discrepancy? The fact is, store-bought teas typically lose 20 percent of EGCG/catechin content during the bottling process, which is why brewing your own is so critical. If you really want bottled tea then shoot for versions with an acid like lemon juice or citric acid, which help stabilize EGCG levels. Recent studies show that the more acidic the environment, the more stable the tea’s nutrients. But even in a highly acidic drink, more than half of the nutrients are gone within 3 months.

I have read that it is more beneficial to chop the whole lemon into chunks, or rather thin slices, and put those into water (don’t squeeze the lemon slices /chunks, just drop them in the water), and drink that in the morning……adding whatever else you would like. Leave the peel on the lemon (use organic) and just let them sit in the water overnight. There is goodness in the peel that is really detoxing, and you don’t get all the juice that will compromise the enamel on your teeth. It’s very good, and you can really taste the bitter peel….very good.
Does the body type theory work in these cases? Well, knowing that you’re a pear or an apple is useful for identifying those exercises that can help you achieve a more proportionate appearance, but focusing more on the upper body or on the legs might not be effective in reducing the belly fat.
