Kale is high in fiber, phytochemicals, and protein. It helps reduce cholesterol and prevents breast, ovarian, colon, bladder, and prostate cancers. Due to the presence of kaempferol and quercetin, kale is a superb antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent. It has also been found to help in the reduction of body fat and the maintenance of good cardiovascular health (18).
Valerian is an herb that's long been valued as a mild sedative, and now research is showing what tea enthusiasts have known for centuries. In a study of women, researchers gave half the test subjects a valerian extract, and half a placebo. Thirty percent of those who received valerian reported an improvement in the quality of their sleep, versus just 4 percent of the control group. In a another study published in the European Journal of Medical Research, investigators gave 202 insomniacs valerian or a Valium-like tranquilizer. After six weeks, both treatments were equally effective. And in other studies, valerian root has been shown to increase the effectiveness of sleeping pills. While researchers have yet to identify the exact active ingredient, they suspect that receptors in the brain may be stimulated to hit "sleep mode" when coming in contact with valerian.
I lost 4 pounds on this diet, which I followed for 7-out-of-8-days. Probably didn't lose more because my daily calorie intake was already relatively low, but this did push me out of a plateau and helped me loose those stubborn last few pounds. I don't know how much of an impact the tea had on my weight loss (I image sticking to around 1000 calories per day was the main factor), but it is what drew me to this book.
A few years back, the authors of Eat This, Not That! commissioned ChromaDex laboratories to analyze 14 different bottled green teas for their levels of disease-fighting catechins. While Honest Tea Honey Green Tea topped the charts with an impressive 215 milligrams of total catechins, some products weren’t even in the game. For instance, Republic of Tea Pomegranate Green Tea had only 8 milligrams, and Ito En Teas’ Tea Lemongrass Green had just 28 milligrams, despite implying on its label that the product is packed with antioxidants.
Every tea has its own special weight-loss powers, but if your boat is sinking and you can only grab one package of tea before swimming to the deserted island, make it green tea. Green tea—a core component of The 7-Day Flat-Belly Tea Cleanse—is the bandit that picks the lock on your fat cells and drains them away, even when we’re not making the smartest dietary choices. Chinese researchers found that green tea significantly lowers triglyceride concentrations (potentially dangerous fat found in the blood) and belly fat in subjects who eat fatty diets.

Green or white teas make great bases for smoothies. In a study presented at the North American Association of the Study of Obesity, researchers found that regularly drinking smoothies in place of meals increased a person's chances of losing weight and keeping it off longer than a year. Add your favorite tea to one of these 56 Smoothie Recipes for Weight Loss!

Even better than I expected. Not only advice about great teas, but also about good foods and supplements to take! Of course even just using the teas alone, I shed 20 of my 60 lbs of belly fat! Of course it would have been a micro bit better if it included parts "for men only", instead of just women only advice. But oh well, at least the large majority of the book was for both genders. So grateful that I decided to acquire this book in the first place!
Fat accumulated in the lower body (the pear shape) is subcutaneous, while fat in the abdominal area (the apple shape) is largely visceral. Where fat ends up is influenced by several factors, including heredity and hormones. As the evidence against abdominal fat mounts, researchers and clinicians are trying to measure it, correlate it with health risks, and monitor changes that occur with age and overall weight gain or loss.
And that’s when everything changed. Tea will literally squelch your appetite and make staying slim utterly effortless. When you drink tea, you do more than nourish yourself. You join an international community of people around the world who are engaging in the very same rituals as you. Throughout Asia, tea is practically a national drink. In places like Morocco, you’ll never enter a home without being offered tea—it’s considered rude! From England to India, people plan their travel and work schedules around tea.

5. Bloated Belly: Kate Patton, a registered dietitian at Cleveland Clinic, told Health.com that eating too many processed foods can be the reason why people are gaining belly fat instead of losing it. She said, “Refined grains like white bread, crackers, and chips, as well as refined sugars in sweetened drinks and desserts, increase inflammation in our bodies, belly fat is associated with inflammation, so eating too many processed foods will hinder your ability to lose belly fat.” Patton suggests that people consume foods like vegetables, fruits, and whole grains because they are full of antioxidants and contain anti-inflammatory properties that can help prevent or remove belly fat.
An easy way to determine if you have too much belly fat is to measure yourself at home. Take a measuring tape and wrap it around your bare stomach, directly above your hip bone. The tape should be snug but not too tight. For women, a measurement of 35 inches or more indicates an unhealthy amount of belly fat. For men, a measurement of 40 inches or more indicates an unhealthy measure.

How It Works: The secret to cardio workouts and losing belly fat has little to do with the actual exercise you choose. The key is the intensity at which you do it and the length of time you are doing it per day/week. According to a  study conducted by the Metabolic Syndrome and Related Disorders, if you routinely participate in high intensity workouts, you will burn more fat than if you participate in similar but lower intensity workouts where you burn the same number of calories. They conclude that intensity if the key to fat loss.

This delicious detox water has strawberries and kiwis and is the perfect summer drink. You will need 2 liters of water, a couple of strawberries and a couple of kiwis. Just chop your kiwis and strawberries, add to your water and sit in the fridge for a couple of hours to let it seep. The kiwi has vitamins A and E which will help you to rid your body of free radicals and they help to flush toxins from your colon. Strawberries are great for your skin and then contain anti-aging properties and help to fight carcinogens. You can add more or less fruit depending on your taste preferences or add different fruits or a mint sprig for a completely new taste.
The latest dieting trend has reached a new level of evolution with this insanely flavorful watermelon detox water. There are plenty of antioxidants stored within the juicy melons, and its nutrient contents are through the roof. One of its key compounds is the phytonutrient known as lycopene. This generous ingredient is an extraordinarily strong antioxidant, and it also is known to foster anti-inflammatory effects. Amino acids are also provided to aid in blood flow and cardiovascular well-being. This is great for anyone with a rigid fitness routine. Seedless watermelons are preferred for this blend, and the final product is a ruby red wonder!

Pomegranate contains vitamins C and K, folate, proteins, fiber, and potassium. Punicalagins present in pomegranate are antioxidants and help boost the overall immunity. Pomegranate prevents type II diabetes, cancer (prostate and breast), and heart disease. It is also beneficial for those who have arthritis, blood pressure, skin diseases, and cognitive disorders. It improves memory and blood circulation (19).

I have to admit I am really dubious about “targeting” fat loss. Yes you can tone certain parts of your body with specific types of exercise, but fat loss is a completely different thing. As far as my experience goes, if you eat healthily for fat loss, the fat comes off in its own order… not exactly where you want. It’s just where ever your body naturally decides. Eventually of course it will come off your tummy and love handles, you may be lucky and they are the first things to go. It you might have to be patient and wait…

This kind of water is obviously good for you, and it always has been; however, people are just uncovering it now. By hopping on the bandwagon of popularity, ladies can help themselves while also appearing progressive. Cultural relevance can be acquired alongside being a trendsetter. These two worlds rarely collide, and they are usually mutually exclusive. This presents a rare opportunity for girls to do the right thing and be popular at the same time. Furthermore, it also benefits the environment by eliminating plastic bottles. Meat consumption is also slowed by this lifestyle. There has never been a better moment to join a social movement. Plus, it tastes heavenly. Every day can feel like an afternoon at the spa, and your body will reap the benefits of being spoiled by natural beauty treatments.
You can develop lower belly fat at any age, though. The food you eat daily plays a serious role. The Journal of Clinical Investigation in 2009 published a study showing that consuming a significant amount -- about 25 percent of calories over just 10 weeks -- of fructose-sweetened drinks, including soda and fruit punches, increases visceral fat development. Other sugary foods can be to blame as well. Reduce your intake of candy, soda and processed baked goods to help lose your belly.
