One reason excess visceral fat is so harmful could be its location near the portal vein, which carries blood from the intestinal area to the liver. Substances released by visceral fat, including free fatty acids, enter the portal vein and travel to the liver, where they can influence the production of blood lipids. Visceral fat is directly linked with higher total cholesterol and LDL (bad) cholesterol, lower HDL (good) cholesterol, and insulin resistance.

For instance fat cells in the, "Abdominal region are metabolically much more active than those in the femoral (thigh) region."
Mint is great for aiding in digestion and raspberries have great antioxidant properties. Add them both to water and you have a very tasty detox water to help flush those toxins from your kidneys, liver and colon. You will need about half a gallon of spring or purified water, 2 tablespoons of raspberries – these can be fresh or frozen – and two tablespoons of fresh mint leaves. You also need a medium sized lime. Just slice the lime and add it along with the mint leaves and raspberries to your water in a large pitcher. Muddle the raspberries just a bit if you want more flavor and you can microwave the lime for a couple of seconds to get more juice from it.
I've had every tea that is listed in this book and never noticed any of the results that are claimed. Hell, I even went pretty deep into Puer tea and bought a few hundred dollars of the stuff, then spent months drinking it and noticed nothing at all by way of results. Over a year ago I came across information that explained that the difference between people who get results from drinking tea, whether green tea or white tea, oolong, or puer tea, is that those who got results were drinking between 4 - 5 cups a day, while those who didn't get results were only drinking 1 or 2 cups a day. So, I started making a habit of drinking 4 - 5 cups a day. I even started making tea and keeping it in 1 liter bottles in my refrigerator, to make it easy to drink iced tea whenever I wanted. After nearly a year now of drinking 4 - 5 cups a day of green, white, oolong, puer, and other teas, I do not believe drinking any of these teas aided in any weight I've lost at all, as there have been periods of a week here and there where I've not drank any tea, and when I added it back in, I didn't notice any additional weight being lost at all. So, it may simply be a matter of individual physiology, but for me, whether I drink tea or not there is no noticeable difference, no noticeable increase in the amount of weight which is lost. The book simply makes it sound like every tea is going to produce some kind of magical effect, and that's what bothers me the most. While tea may be a useful addition to a weight loss program, from my experience, it certainly is not a weight loss miracle the way it's made out to b by this author.
After examining the fat lost around the trained muscle compared to the "resting muscle" they found lipolysis (fat loss) was generally higher in the fat adjacent to contracting muscle compared to the resting muscle. Again noting, "Blood flow and lipolysis (fat loss) was higher" in the trained leg they concluded, "Thus specific exercises can induce "spot lipolysis" in adipose tissue."
After analysing 1,257 men and 1,366 women who participated in the Canada Fitness Survey they found waist size, "remained significantly lower in subjects performing high-intensity exercise." Worth stressing is this is not casually rolling back and forth on an ab machine or leisurely mounting the thigh master. An idea echoed by research published in the Journal of Obesity who stated, "High Intensity training three times per week was associated with significant reductions in total body fat, leg and trunk fat."
Perform a resistance training workout every 48 hours. According to "The Abs Diet," resistance training targets abdominal fat and causes the body to burn fat for up to 48 hours after each workout. Repairing the muscle damage from even moderate resistance training requires a lot of extra calories. Three days a week should suffice for most individuals, but feel free to increase to 5 or 6 days according to your own personal fitness goals. Our muscles are constantly burning calories, even at rest, so it makes sense to build muscle as part of a stomach-flattening and cleansing diet.

So much of weight loss is just calorie restriction…great food suggestions! I’ve noticed that when I go to the gym I can burn a certain amount of calories per hour — but it’s so much easier to just skip those calories at a meal. Not that exercise isn’t important, I just know that weight loss itself is so much more about diet than exercise. The sculpting part is more about exercise though:) Great tips. I often ignore my core — no more!

Does the body type theory work in these cases? Well, knowing that you’re a pear or an apple is useful for identifying those exercises that can help you achieve a more proportionate appearance, but focusing more on the upper body or on the legs might not be effective in reducing the belly fat.
